I found some information on eating Raw foods and decided to try it out for 3 days and then see where it takes me. I have heard so much about the whole30 diet and looked at it a little, but then took a tangent to raw eating and it seems simpler to me. And right now, the simpler the better for me!
I found an app called "3 day raw food cleanse" and just started today.
In order to keep myself accountable, I will share my experience here.
Day 1:
Breakfast - Orange, Strawberry, Banana Smoothie
- 1 orange, peeled
- 1 frozen banana, peeled
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1/2 cup water
This was nice and I didn't feel hungry until right around 12:00.
(I did cheat and have black coffee with friends mid-morning).
Lunch - Chopped Cauliflower Salad
- 3 cups cauliflower, chopped
- 1/3 cup red pepper, diced
- 1/3 cup celery, sliced
- 4 Tbsp basil, chopped
- 4 Tbsp parsley, chopped
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 3 Tbsp sundried tomato, diced
- 2 Tbsp Kalamata olives, diced
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 2 Tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
This was very labor intensive! And then they recommended putting it in the fridge for an hour before you ate it. That's a lot to ask of someone who only had a fruit smoothie for breakfast! The flavors were good and there was a lot of it. I also ate some as a snack mid afternoon.
Dinner - Raw Faux Tuna Walnut Wraps
- 1 cups walnuts
- 1 cups carrots, chopped
- 1/8 cup raw tahini
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup fresh dill
- 1/8 tsp salt and pepper
- 5-8 romaine leaves
1. Combine walnuts, carrots, tahini, and lemon juice in food processor - process into rough paste.
2. Add other ingredients
3. Scoop mixture in to romaine leaves
This was REALLY good and there was extra. It feels like hummus and chicken salad. I would make this one again.
Also added 96 oz of water to my day. I never drink enough water.
Exercise: 3o minute run/walk
I haven't done very much research and look forward to learning more of the do's and don'ts of raw eating. There are conflicting reviews but most everyone lost weight which is my main motivator. As of right now I have committed to 3 days, but would like to go for 30!
